Suffolk’s Ed Sheeran Supports Local Cancer Charity
The singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran, has proved once again how passionate he is about charity work in Suffolk.
Ed has generously donated a piece of his artwork to Cancer Campaign in Suffolk (CCiS) to raise vital funds for the ongoing work of the charity.
The painting is part of the singer’s collection that he worked on after his long running “Divide” world tour ended in 2019.
Everyone will be in with a chance to own the abstract artwork when a special #perfectpicture prize draw is launched on Friday 12th February and will run until Friday 12th March, when the lucky winner will be randomly selected.
The donation coincides with Ed’s 30th birthday this month and marks CCiS’s milestone of helping over 30,000 people in Suffolk.
Ed said he wanted to make the gesture because “it’s a fantastic cause and will help a lot of people in Suffolk”. The full video Ed has made in support of the event can be seen here:
Proceeds raised from the artwork will enable the charity to continue to help the local community before, during and after cancer through body and cancer awareness, counselling and complementary therapies and beauty and wellbeing projects.
Liberty lives in Suffolk and is being supported by CCiS after being diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year.
“Cancer Campaign in Suffolk introduced me to Sally, one of the CCiS’s counselling team, who has been a friendly voice supporting me through some dark moments. It is not always possible to talk to friends and family about everything, they have their own worries. CCiS gave me the freedom to voice my deepest fears without upsetting anyone.
It’s incredibly exciting that superstar Ed Sheeran has recognised CCiS’s work in Suffolk by donating a piece of his fabulous artwork to their prize draw. This rare opportunity to win one of Ed Sheeran’s paintings will generate huge interest and I hope much needed funds.”
Karen Hare, Chief Executive of CCiS said: “We are a small local charity and are so excited and grateful to Ed for showing his support for our work in making this terrific gift to CCiS. Every pound raised helps hugely and will enable us to continue all our projects, give us some security and the opportunity to meet the future needs of those living with cancer. All the monies we raise stay in Suffolk to help people in the local community and with one in two of us having a cancer diagnosis in our lives, it means we will all be touched in some way. Think local, spend local, and support local.”
In a previous auction, another piece of Ed’s artwork raised £40,000 so the lucky winner has a real chance of having an investment in their possession this time around too.
The prize draw is launched on Friday 12th February at 10.00 a.m. UK time and will run until 10.00 a.m. UK time on Friday 12th March. Tickets cost £20.00 each.
